  RE: CSV delimiters

(...) I agree. I was trying to hack an Excel file into some usable html, and those "" made it nearly impossible for me to do search and replaces to get valid html without messing it up in other places. --Bram Bram Lambrecht BXL34@po.cwru.edu (URL) (24 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: CSV delimiters

(...) Eeek -- shame on me -- did I just say "it's" when I meant "its"? Anyway, I forgot to say: The idea of escaping quotes is *bizarre* in the first place. IMHO, there shouldn't *be* any closing double-quote character on a field once it has already (...) (24 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: CSV delimiters

(...) I hate it too. IIRC, Excel uses "" instead of \" for an escaped " -- but I could be wrong. I just remember hating it once when I looked at it. :) One nice thing, though, is that Excel can import tab-delimited text, so that's it's saving grace. (...)   RE: CSV delimiters

(...) Sorry, I can't help. And I hate the way Excel outputs in plain text. But since it's 2:30 in the morning, I'll make useless comments. Sounds like you're working on the question I asked...augh, and I just entered all the sets manually. Oh well, (...)   CSV delimiters

Is there any "official" or "reasonably standardized format" for CSV (_C_omma _S_eparated _V_alue) data? I guess it's pretty obvious, mostly, but how are the delimiter characters typically encoded (specifically: comma, double-quote, and newline)? In (...)   Re: ICQ searching

(...) nod... I just have ICQ open all the time anyway, so for most things, it's easier to send off an ICQ msg than to find my lugnet/quickset bookmark... :) Dan (24 years ago, 22-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: ICQ searching

(...) Wow! So, ok. You were *really* bored :) Cool anyhow but I'm not sure if it's that practical since you need Internet access anyhow and then a launch of a webbrowser is easier then to find ICQ and the user BrickInfo. I love the idea though, it (...) (24 years ago, 22-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  ICQ searching

hey all - I was bored today. well, kinda. so I came up with an ICQ based lego set search. What you do, add 91890482 (BrickInfo) to your ICQ list (and ignore any auth stuff). Then, send it a message with a set number: Message to BrickInfo Thu Sep 21 (...) (24 years ago, 21-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Modelling boolean gates with trains

(...) For those of a mathematical disposition, I vaguely remember an article on the subject of building computing logics out of train tracks in 'Eureka' (the annual journal of the Cambridge University undergraduate math society, the Archimedeans) a (...)   Re: Modelling boolean gates with trains

(...) If NOT is reversing direction, than 1 is forward and 0 is back. (Or the other way around; whatever.) But I'd be curious to hear how you envision more complicated logic! (24 years ago, 20-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.edu, lugnet.trains)
