True, true. :-)
Admittingly, there are many names that don't seem Hebrish (1) at first (at
least not to me) because of the many changes they've had along the way.

The original name, I s'pose, is Mattityahu, as in the Hanukka story; but names
get shortened and saying that long name quickly yields in "Matt-you", which
strikingly resembles Matthew...

Hmm. Food for thought.

(...) Uh, forgot to say, the "Matat" part means gift in Hebrew, and the "yahu" consists of the three letters that make God's name in the old testament.
