True, true. :-)
Admittingly, there are many names that don't seem Hebrish (1) at first (at
least not to me) because of the many changes they've had along the way.
The original name, I s'pose, is Mattityahu, as in the Hanukka story; but names
get shortened and saying that long name quickly yields in "Matt-you", which
strikingly resembles Matthew...
Hmm. Food for thought.

| (...) Uh, forgot to say, the "Matat" part means gift in Hebrew, and the "yahu" consists of the three letters that make God's name in the old testament.
