    Re: 6 months! —Matthew Miller
(...) You've seen the Diamond Rio? (URL) not a CD player, but rather has 32MB of flash. Not nearly as much as a CD of course, but still. (26 years ago, 25-Nov-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: 6 months! —Lee Jorgensen
go to (URL) IS a CD-MP3 player ... plays CD-R's and CD-RW's with MP3s in the root directory. The only drawback is that it's SRP is 299.95 USD Also, if you go to (URL) they have a hardware section that will list different options available. They also (...)      (...) Thanks for pointing this out. I now know what I want for Christmas. :) Besides the LEGO, of course. Steve (26 years ago, 25-Nov-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) I thought about that. Didn't realize you could load tracks into a RAM for offline playback. If the Diamond Rio continues to survive prosecution and persecution, it could be the killer app for a consumer-level internet. Steve (26 years ago, 25-Nov-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) That's what the specs say. And yeah, I'd heard that too. I dunno. (26 years ago, 25-Nov-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Matthew Miller wrote in message ... (...) MP3 offers variable compression. It goes down to 16kbit/s, at which rate 32MB lasts 16ks, or 3 and a half hours. Sounds like telephone music, but what the heck. Moz (26 years ago, 26-Nov-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: 6 months! —Jasper Janssen
(...) The Mp3-man, which is a similar device, comes with 64 meg. just a tidbit. jasper (26 years ago, 3-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: 6 months! —Matthew Miller
(...) A friend just told me that it comes with 32MB built in, and comes with a 32MB card. Which is even cooler, 'cause you could have a small collection of those. (26 years ago, 3-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: 6 months! —Jasper Janssen
(...) Yeah, cool. Especially since they're probably using either a propietary format (which means basically it's a waste of money to get cards) or a very compatible format, of which probably even larger versions of memory are availbale. If you know (...) (26 years ago, 3-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
