"miles away from the book, in content and theme"

I Loved "the Secret of NIMH", the book, that is.  It was one of those books
that I read when I was younger, and then when I tried to find it later in
life, I had a devil of a time trying to find out the name.  And then... I
saw the movie.  I HATED it.  Oh my god, did they feel a need to put in magic
just because it was an animated movie for god's sake??!?!?!  ( I'm talking
about the "magic amulet" thing, whatever it was called...)

And on the subject of movies that were ( dissappointingly / upsettingly )
different from the book:  How about "The Postman"?  The book was by David
Brin, and I probably would have called it my favorite book for a while.  The
movie was so different, that I could not recognize ANYTHING.  <sigh>  And
Kevin Costner is just about the worst actor in the whole world anyway... All
he does is change his clothes.  No accent, no intonation, no emotion,
nothing.

Hmmm.  I guess I feel strongly about this type of thing.  Books are my
passion.
