Hello! Well, I've posted this query on rec.arts.animation and on a message
board for animaters, with no luck yet. So, I figured who better to ask, but
my fellow LEGO maniacs!
I'm looking for a relatively short animated film/movie that aired on Showtime
(typically between 2 and 4 p.m. weekdays) during the early to mid 1980s. It
was not a series, but a stand-alone film. The frustrating thing is I can't
remember the title. But, it centered around, I believe, animal characters who
build an old-time race car (looked like a late 1920s to early 1930s type of
roadster) out of scrap pieces so they can enter, you guessed it, a race. It
featured either stop motion animation or clay animation. I don't think it
used puppets, and I know it didn't feature hand drawn animation.
I remember (albeit through a child's eyes) the animation to be very good and a
lot of fun. It inspired me to build a similar race car out of LEGO at the
time.
If anyone knows the title to this film or if you even remember it, can you
please email me? Or, if you might have some tips on how I could search this
film out, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve Berry

| (...) It sounds a bit like a rather infamous Norwegian movie called "Flåklypa Grand Prix", however I find it a bit unlikeliy that this was aired in the US. If this image does not ring a bell, then it probably isn't the correct movie: (URL) looking (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jul-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
