Flash applets can now read your mind! —Dan Boger

Re: Flash applets can now read your mind! —Tim Courtney
(...) didn't add numbers, I just looked at symbols after the first attempt. -Tim (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Flash applets can now read your mind! —David Koudys
(...) I try to fake it out by clicking the circle a few times with no number in mind, then I do the actual 'pick a number...' thing as per instructions and every single time it shows the proper symbol. I've done it 10 times now and it's 10 for 10. (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) Yeah.... the same with me, every time I actually do the adding/subtracting excercise, it shows the right symbol. I can see the symbols repeat some, but is that a part of it? I'm guessing no... -Tim (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) answer, but I suggest trying the exercise with several numbers in sequence (13, 14, 15, etc). That should let you work out the underlying principle that lets them do this. :) thanks, James (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Flash applets can now read your mind! —Bruce Schlickbernd
(...) you got, it was always the same symbol. I'm such a spoil-sport. :-) There's a good one with cards on the web that is even more of shame-faced trick than this one, but actually works out more subtly. I'll have to look for it and post it.      (...) Not as good of a presentation as I originally saw it, but it's the same technique. (URL) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Flash applets can now read your mind! —James Brown
(...) Dan linked to. I also originally saw it in a better presentation; IIRC it was a Powerpoint presentation with some funky graphics. James (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Flash applets can now read your mind! —Terry Prosper
(...) This one is soo funny. I was almost about to ask how this one works, but then, I figured it must be as simple as the other one. It was then very obvious... I chose 2 cards at the same time. Over. This makes me think of all the visual (...) (22 years ago, 21-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) For anyone who doesn't feel like breaking out the pencil and paper, Snopes has gotten enough e-mail about this that they've put up a page with the debunking. Check the What's new? link at snopes.com thanks, James (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
