Pot shot or not, the comment identifies the problem of the
widespread--though not necessarily accurate--perception of the LP as a bunch
of far-out right wingers. In my experience, the LP suffers from a vocal
minority(?) within its ranks who write fiery editorials and call in to
right-wing talk radio demagogues and generally scare non-Libertarians with
their various dogma and agendas. I believe this is what Lar has described
as "Libertarian Macho Flash," and he has correctly identified it as a real
problem.
If, indeed, the Libertarian Ideals are not in line with the popular
perception (by which I refer to Scott A's summation), perhaps one of the
LP's principal objectives should be to offset or correct that perception.
Otherwise, no one will give them a fair shake.
