HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, has a long incubating time
in the body, it is quite easy to pass it on to others before
it kills the host.  This is what makes AIDS such a threat.

I know that I've snipped lots, but I wanted to ask about this in particular.
On the spectrum of diseases, does this actually count as _easy_ to pass along?
I have handled AIDS patients on a few occasions (that I know of) and I seem to
be healthy.  There are other times where by my best reconning, I briefly
entered a house where someone had the flu (was not sneezed upon, and did not
touch anyone) and then came down with it myself.

It doesn't seem too easy to contract, to me.  What is a difficult to contract
infection?  What do you have to do to transmit it?

It definitely isn't an easy disease to transmit. You need it to enter the
bloodstream directly either via needlestick injury or when bodily fluids
enter thru an abrasion/cut/sore site.
Maybe he meant that it's easy for others to be actually carrying it and
showing no symptoms and transmitting it,rather than easy to transmit.

Remember syphilis was a similar danger before penicillin (long lead in time
to second and third stages).

Tuberculosis is very easy to transmit and is very prevalent in the third
world and making a resurgence in the West.
