[CRASH!!!]

You just hit one of my major pet peeves.

*I* am a native American citizen.

I am *NOT*, however, of the American Indian ethnicity!!!

I was _born_ here in the US of A.

_ANYONE_ who was _BORN_ within the territorial limits of the country
of their citizenship is a _NATIVE_ of that country!

As a counter-example:
My mom is a _naturalized_ American;
she was born in _Cuba_,
and later _emigrated_ here.

In case you couldn't tell, I loathe and despise
political correctness.

I consider political correctness to be a form of
intellectual dishonesty.

It was not my intention to cause anger or embarassment,
only to help contribute to the education of the populace
at large.

Thanks,
Franklin

I completely understand. Political correctness gets under my skin, also,
especially when taken to the extreme. However, in this case, I think it's
necessary. I mean . . . think about it. You're upset because according to
the PC definition of Native American, you wouldn't be included. However,
here is this entire ethnic group full of people who have been referred to as
Indians for so many years, when India is all the way across the ocean!
Although you have a very valid point, I think it's kind of like splitting
hairs. It's the same way when people have a problem with citizens of the
United States referring to themselves as Americans, when there is another
continent and a half with "Americans" on it. It's simply a matter of that
being the title that is given to residents of the US and although citizens
of Mexico or Canada can refer to themselves as Americans (being from North
America), generally it is assumed that you are referring to United Statesman
. . .errr . . .statespeople.
