(i.e. eating the forbidden fruit made them mortal.)  To which Satan

No no no.  There was the tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life.  They at from
the first one, and were kicked out so that they wouldn't eat from the second
one and become immortal.  They weren't kicked out for becoming knowledgeable
as we usually think(that's what the listed punishments are for), they were
kicked out to prevent further "feasting"(1)

Yah, I forgot about that one in the heat of debate.  So it was a combination
punishment / preventative maintenance decision, then.

It was Satan who lied, at least partially, to get Eve to munch on that apple.
"Satan" (the serpent actually) didn't lie at all.  he said that their eyes
would be opened and they would be like God.  Their eyes were opened, and God
said that they were like Him.  I'm all for Satan bashing, but it doesn't look
like he lied here.

Wha--?!  Whose side are you on?  ;-)

But I dunno; I still consider Satan's speech at least a half-lie, working on
Eve's desire to become something greater, and her ignorance on what makes a
god.

I suppose it's like if I were to persuade you to buy a box of Wheeties, so
that you can become like Michael Jordan.

Cheers,
