Better communications technolgy exists, but that does not mean that everyone has
sufficient access to it. I am writing this from work. I do not own a computer.
Why? Because I cannot afford one right now, without assuming more debt.
Millions of people do not have adequate computer access, for one reason or
another. And there are plenty of people out there who can't afford them and
don't have the credit power to do it anyway. Unless you're ready to have the
government subsidize computers at taxpayer expense, then I'd suggest the
electoral college as the most just and fair way to levy the clout of the "haves"

presidential party nominees usually win their home states, but I'd also wager
that "Dubya" will have a hard time when the Austin Democrats go to the polls.
