Don’t forget that this apostle of the Culture of Life, during his tenure as governor of the great State of Texas, signed the bill that allowed hospitals to terminate life support against a family’s wishes if such support was deemed too costly and/or unlikely to lead to any recovery. In the past few weeks an infant in Texas was removed from life support despite the mother’s wishes expressly in accordance with Bush’s fine law.

Also, Tom “ethics-schmethics” DeLay pulled the plug on his own father who’d been severely injured in an accident, then sued the manufacturer of the vehicle in the accident for $250,000, and since then has fought in Congress to oppose such damage awards. Hypocrisy? What hypocrisy?

And let’s also not forget that DeLay, Frist, and Bush have all worked very hard to gut Medicaid, the very program that was helping to pay the cost of forcibly maintaining Ms. Schiavo’s vegetative state.

Yes, sir! The Republican Heavies are all about the Culture of Life!

A brain-dead husk with no chance of recovery and whose case has been heard by dozens of courts? Protect her at all costs!

Thousands of innocent Iraqis? Ah, who cares--if they’re really innocent, they wouldn’t have been Iraqis in the first place.

My only hope is that now Mr. Schiavo and the pitiable pawns Mr. and Mrs. Schindler are afforded some peace and resolution.

Dave!
