What´s the correct spelling?

My book (1) says that Gray is correct, and Grey is the British spelling (2).

Can I use both?
I don't mind if you use either way, but both would be annoying. :)  Since both
pass the spellcheck, I guess it's generally accepted to use either way.  I
dunno though, could be a gray area (oh sorry, thought this was .pun)!

wrong.

(...) Wouldn't it be the other way 'round anyway? Seeing as how the English invented English? :) DaveE (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
