5 Britons were released from Guantanamo Bay without charge yesterday after
being imprisoned for two years. One of them is now a free man, the other four
have had access to legal counsel and are now being questioned.
Labour Peer and QC Helena Kennedy believed the four men would soon be released
without charge because the US would not have allowed them to leave Cuba if there
had been any evidence against them. Meanwhile, Mr Udeens solicitor, Robert
Lizar, said the 37-year-old was looking forward to seeing his family but wanted
the US authorities to answer for the injustice he had suffered. He has been
detained as an innocent person for a period of two years. He has been treated in
a cruel, inhumane and degrading manner, he wants the authorities to answer for
that, Mr Lizar said. more
This comes the same week as Bush has been criticised by Human Rights Watch for
the murder and maltreatment of prisoners captured as part of the war on
terror.
So much for freedom!
Bush is doing nothing but feeding hate.
