  Could you provide a few sources for that statistic?  I would guess that many
crimes are prevented by security cameras and by barred storefront windows--how

(...) I don't think you can prove a negative. I could be wrong here, but my guess is that many crimes are prevented by locking doors too. That, and having a dog.
