While I agree that Malvo's fate has been overly predetermined by a
prejudiced media, it seems that Cassel (the author) has similarly
predetermined Malvo's "proper" fate. Who is she to say that he should get a
sheltered life in prison rather than a death sentence? I'm not saying I'm
for one result over another, but how can she accuse the legal system being
rigged with a desired, media-formed intent and then immediately present her
own desired intent as "what should happen"? Certainly she raises some good
points; but I think she's too quick to judge Malvo as another teen who was
mistreated by the world who would have otherwise turned into a happy Brady
Bunch kid.
