In lugnet.off-topic.debate, John Neal writes:

Islam has no ability to grow, because the Koran was written directly by Allah
himself and so it is perfect for all time the way it is. Burning libraries was
a perfectly good idea, because, if you have the Koran, why would you need any
other book?  All you need is right there.  That kind attitude contributed
greatly to the demise of the once flourishing Islamic culture.

Are you out of your mind again?  Christianity and Christians are TO THIS
DAY actively engaged in the banning and suppression of materials they find
offensive or contradictory to the orthodoxy.  Witness the disgusting efforts
of Michael Behe & William Lane Craig to suppress the teaching of evolution
and to subvert science education in general by attempting to force schools
to teach mythology as science.  Witness the protests against Marilyn Manson
every time he opens his mouth.  Witness the efforts to remove such
"destructive" programs as "South Park" and "Ellen" from the airwaves.
Witness the condemnation heaped upon Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ."
You condemn Islam with no knowledge of its real intent or message, and
what little opinion you are able to form is hopelessly poisoned by the
brainwashing you've received from the media and your conservative dogma.  To
judge Islam on the actions of its extremists is to condemn Christianity
because of the actions of the Ku Klux Klan, the Inquisition, the Crusaders,
the Conquistadores, David Koresh, Jim Bakker, or Andrea Yates, to name just
a few, and there are countless others.

Please quote Allah, in his exact terms. Otherwise, withdraw the statement.

The Cow

Well, if you're aiming for ridiculous citations, I would offer the entire
Old and New Testaments as counter-examples, with specific attention paid to
the mutually contradictory Gospels.  However, for a specific example, let's
take a look at Leviticus 15:19-24

"When a woman has a discharge of blood which is her regular discharge from
her body, she shall be in her impurity for seven days, and whoever touches
her shall be unclean until the evening.  And everything upon which she lies
during her impurity shall be unclean; everything also upon which she sits
shall be unclean. And whoever touches her bed shall wash his clothes, and
bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening. And whoever
touches anything upon which she sits shall wash his clothes, and bathe
himself in water, and be unclean until the evening; whether it is the bed or
anything upon which she sits, when he touches it he shall be unclean until
the evening. And if any man lies with her, and her impurity is on him, he
shall be unclean seven days; and every bed on which he lies shall be unclean.

Wait until we free Iraq of Hussein and its religious extremist leaders.

That will indeed be a fine day.  Then perhaps someone will come along and
free *us* from our extremist leaders.

     Dave!
