It HAS the resources, if you're referring to the one I think you are.
But it spends them on grand cathedrals and imposing monasteries rather
than on helping the poor.

Right, far easier to be self righteously charitable with other people's

I've never been to Springfield (though they do have the region's best wine shop, so I keep meaning to go) but I've looked at maps and I'd think it was inside the range of Ozarks near the Western edge.
