How did you do that? Directly? Too bad. You *missed* the point.
The point is that you cost the Red Cross more (as a percentage of your
donation) if you donate directly than if you donate via Yahoo or Amazon or
MSN... every donation takes some finite amount of effort to collect and
track. It may be small, but it is there and it DOES eat into the amount of
money remaining.
Donating via one of these other channels means more of your money goes to
the Red Cross (if that is the org you choose it to go to) because it's
aggregated with other donations, thus way reducing the overhead. 100% of the
donation goes to the org, so they only have to track one BIG lump.

Nobody said they weren't in general. They just aren't in this particular case.
