During Dubya's latest inarticulate and noncommital description of his plans for destroying the country, viewers were treated to what I'm sure was in no way a planned event: an (URL) embrace> by two women touched by deaths in Iraq. The Iraqi woman, (...) (20 years ago, 3-Feb-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

It's like de-ja-vu all over again

I thought this was a good read: On September 4 1967 the New York Times published an upbeat story on presidential elections held by the South Vietnamese puppet regime at the height of the Vietnam war. Under the heading "US encouraged by Vietnam vote: (...) (20 years ago, 2-Feb-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: four empty cages

(...) I hope that they remain empty. It is simply too inhuman to put people there. Which reminds me: Has anybody made a LEGO model of the Guantanamo concent camps? Fredrik (20 years ago, 27-Jan-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: four empty cages

(...) Obviously, the cages should be filled by those who oppose Freedom and Democracy, such as Barbara Boxer, Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, and Ron Paul. Each of them has had the audacity to question Dubya's Divine Mandate and to remind His Righteous (...) (20 years ago, 27-Jan-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Lego called Racist - "Boycott Legos [sic]"

(...) Yeah, I guess I can see how a discussion of trivial outrage inspired by a perceived failure of journalism is completely distinct from serious outrage inspired by an actual, systemic failure of journalism. Sorry to blur these two obviously (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Lego called Racist - "Boycott Legos [sic]"

(...) No, I'm 100%, born, bred, living Asian Indian (to distinguish from Native American tribes) (...) Wouldn't that be discrimination? ;-) (...)   Re: Lego called Racist - "Boycott Legos [sic]"

(...) Samarth, I've got to commend you on your level-headed maturity, especially for your young age, not just here, but in all things you've been posting on.   Re: Lego called Racist - "Boycott Legos [sic]"

(...) English is an official language of India, has been for many, many years. That's 'native', as in 'native speaker' But, I aside from the minor nitpick, I agree 100%! Tim (Smith) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Lego called Racist - "Boycott Legos [sic]"

(...) Hey, you're not one of those non-native speakers of English, are you?   Re: Tolerance...Dave Schuler are you out there?

(...) Hi Justin! Bruce has already given a good answer, but since your question stems from something that I wrote, I'll take a shot, too.   Re: Lego called Racist - "Boycott Legos [sic]"

(...) Well, youre gonna have to choose another topic, I can't lie and say I'm from the US, because I'm Indian. I'd rather not comment on matters I have partial/incomplete knowledge of in the first place; that'd be asking for trouble. So I'll be (...)   Re: Lego called Racist - "Boycott Legos [sic]"

(...) Well, let's maintain some perspective, shall we? This is a campus newspaper, rather than a mainstream AP publication, right?   Re: Tolerance...Dave Schuler are you out there?

(...) If you preach tolerance, it pretty much mean you are against intolerance.   Tolerance...Dave Schuler are you out there?

Hi Dave, Long ago I gave up responding to off-topic debate as I simply don't have the time to respond to all the tangents, etc. However, I still ocassionally get sucked into reading some of the threads.   Hypocrite in Chief

Read all about it (URL) What the heck is a "culture of life?" Considering that Dubya judges himself qualified to speak in favor of it, I can only conclude that it endorses the deliberate slaughter of some 100,000+ innocent civilians (not to mention (...)
