Pnuematic parts cost more elsewhere

Pneumatic compatible parts elsewhere might not cost less.  Today, tubing
cost me US$0.64/foot from a hobby shop.  A set of 4 T couplers cost $2.75.

The Lego USA Shop-at-Home service pack # 5109 Pneumatic Tubing costs $3.25.
It includes 5.17 feet of tube and 4 T couplers.  A better deal than the
hobby shop tube alone . . . like getting the T couplers free.

The hobby shop tubing has a greater outside diameter but bends well.  The
hobby shop also sells other couplers of various configurations not offered
by Lego.  The couplers include the straight and the elbow.  The straight
coupler would allow the joining of 2 short tubes rather than buying a
longer
section.  The elbow coupler would allow the turning of a tight corner.

The hobby shop sells the pneumatic tubing for radio-controlled model
airplanes.  Other pneumatic devices include hand pumps with pressure
gauges, piston-powered assemblies, manifolds, and air storage tanks (about
100cc and 400cc).  The pneumatics control the flaps and other moving parts
on the airborn model.  Now, you may think about using those airplane air
storage tanks and the hand pumps with pressure gauges.  Big question:  how
much pressure will a Lego pneumatic system without the blue air tank take
before it damages the cylinders and tubing?
