If by “cool” you mean dirty-looking, not useful for building, and generally ugly then yeah, they might be cool. :) OK, PoC would actually fit the Pyrates style better than if it had been done in LEGO but it still doesn’t mean you can build anything diferent or original with so many MB BURPs.

Not useful for building? Well, the hulls aren’t appreciably less adaptable than LEGO ship hulls, so YMMV

Dirty looking? Heck yes!

Generally ugly? No way, IMO

The best thing about the MB Pyrates is the packaging: “leather” pouches, shulls and recently a treasure chest.

The packaging is indeed cool, but the Pyrates minifig-scale accessories are great, too. Weapons, lanterns, shovels, gems, treasure chests, maps. All very cool. Even the non-Pyrate accessories can be useful for enhancing your LEGO minifig arsenal.

Dave!

(...) I was thinking of the large blobby shaped "bases" that come with the small sets. Blech! At least a LEGO BURP has regular sides and edges that allow it to be built into something larger. (19 years ago, 3-Nov-05, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)
