In lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, Dave Schuler wrote another characteristically
comprehensive review.

Mmmmm.  I note that that this, the go cart set and the truck have also turned up
in Australia (Big W).  Our pricing is not so convivial though.  The two smaller
sets were AUD35 (around USD25) and the truck AUD50.

The sets do look attractive, and I note that the the truck includes some new (to
me) 3x double sided slopes - ie slope left, stud in middle and slope right.

The goop is an interesting touch.  This, coming ontop of the markers to colour
in your models in some of the earlier military sets, the electrical and
clockwork elements in Dragons and Command Ops, and the plasticene of the AA line
- you gotta be impressed at their enthusiasm for providing interesting toys to
play with, always with some extra thinking thown in for fun..

The Turtle sets' packaging has a transparent corner were some of the figs are
displayed, and I agree that the figs look very fine, if you're into the whole
turtles thing.

Which I can't say I am particularly.

What I am into is the Command Ops line, and sadly, at present, the chopper is
all we see.  <sigh>  And my APCs and choppers could use some humvees, and maybe
a zodiac or two.

And and before wonderful and helpful Americans Cloners chime in to point out
that they are only too happy to send some, I note that the US Postal service's
idea of reasonable rates and reasonable performance seems to be at odds with the
rest of the western world.  On really small stuff I understand that its fine,
but on half a dozen decent sized sets its just untenable.  After all, one of the
reasons one gets into MB is that its cheaper...no?

Richard
Still baldly going...

(...) I don't own that set, but I wondered if that was indeed a single piece or some trick of the eye deceiving me. The FDNY Firetruck had the corresponding inverse slope piece in red, so I guess it was only a matter of time. Cool! (...) You made (...) (21 years ago, 5-Mar-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Disclaimer: I’m not particularly TMNT-savvy, so I’m not conversant with all of the lore and mythology of that universe, but I’ve seen the cartoon once or twice (and probably saw the first movie, way back when). With that in mind, there may be (...) (21 years ago, 4-Mar-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
