Hi all.

Well, I’ve been looking over JetFire, and I’ve come up with a fairly simple change to make it more of a Transformer. Note that this form isn’t as stable as the given transformation is... but on the other hand, it isn’t as stupid-looking either. :)

Pick up your jetfire in the Space Shuttle form. Take out the little mini-con and set it aside. Take off the large black Gun/Engine piece, set that aside. Reach in and pry off the robot face, set it aside, and finally pull off the two L-shaped pieces with the Autobot symbols on them.

Reattach the auto-bot symbol pieces down two studs from where they had been, so that they’re only covering three studs of the triangular wing pieces. Reattach the black Gun/Engine part so that it’s covering up all four studs on the two Autobot pieces. Attach the autobot face to the top of the cockpit windows piece, where there’s that little 2x2 area of studs. Now you can put the minicon back on.

To Transform:

1) Remove Minicon, including the 2x2 high-stud plate that it attaches with.

2) Remove black Engine/Gun piece.

3) Remove the Cones and plates assembly that are attached to the robot’s feet.

4) Remove the Nose cone and autobot face assembly from the front.

5) Rotate the robot legs out of the main assembly until they point down, and then fiddle with htem so the studs and toes are facing front.

6) Rotate red gun pieces to face ‘forward’.

7) Pull out the arms and position so they look nice.

8) Reattach the Nose Cone/Autobot Face assembly to the top of the model, so that the face’s chin is in the middle of the 2x2 group of studs between the autobot’s shoulders.

9) Reattach the Cones and Plates assembly to the robot’s backside - just below the trapazoidal wing piece on the back. This helps balance the piece.

10) Attach the Engine/Gun to one of the robot’s arms. Usually it’s easier to just attach it to the curved piece’s studs - if you want to use the hand, you’ll need to pop the curved brick off of the top of the arm.

And there you go - he looks like a Jet that’s turned into a robot, you didn’t have to break it down completely, and he doesn’t look as scrawny as the original. Now, if I could figure this out, why couldn’t Hasbro? *laugh*

I’m working on a similar change to the Demolisher toy, but I’m having a little too much fun so far getting the arms to swing the way I want them to while still having it be somewhat stable. I’ll let you know when I’ve got something I”m happy with.
