Hi all,

I've just finished reading a small article in "Expresso" newspaper about the
new LEGO Creator Harry Potter. The article is in portuguese (doh!), so I'll
try to translate as closely as possible...

Harry Potter in LEGO

Lego did not want to leave behind the new youngsters idol in their building
bricks' universe, and there it is announcing for the current month the
release of LEGO Creator Harry Potter, which is the first game and activity
center around the theme created by writer JK Rawling

Environments in the book Harry Potter and The Filosofal Stone (sp?) have
been recreated for a LEGO program, which proposes kids with the construction
of personal models of Hogwarts Castle, that they can decorate at will. This
ability marks a premiere for LEGO: in fact, this is the first time that a
game from the Danish company opens itself towards the interiors of the
constructions, including the creation of furnitures from LEGO elements, in
what appears to suggest new paths for the titles of this series. Something
that goes around the Harry Potter world, since LEGO has already announced
this license is the first of many, which are expected to cover other titles
from the saga.
The program is not different from other in the LEGO Creator collection. The
kid is guided thru successive screens that give access to brick painting,
brick building, snapshot printing, all of which is centered in the
adventures of the learning wizard.
Besides allowing movement between the several scenarios of the game, which
include Hogwarts Express, LEGO Creator Harry Potter lets kids populate their
scenes with their own characters, whether they are dragons or snakes, or
other students at Hogwarts, and then, in what will reveal as the height of
the experience, descend to this world in the third or first person while
interacting with the (mini)figures. This discovery of the universe created,
in which everything moves and reacts at the touch of Potter's magic wand, is
what makes the journey through this game so interesting for children. And,
like with regular LEGO bricks, one can go back and rebuild it all
differentely for a new adventure.
LEGO Creator has all of the necessary attributes to keep youngsters busy for
hours, casting magic spells or building/managing the local train network.
But the game stretches far beyond the virtual plan, providing the option of
printing building instructions of every model created in the game, so that
kids can later build them out of real bricks. And still in the virtual plan,
the program intends to create a community, suggesting the share of models
through the Internet, with other players.
Still in LEGO's new catalog, and considering Christmas gift-lists, is LEGO
Racers 2. Launched for PS2, PC and GBAdvance, it includes five new worlds to
pick from, new powers to collect in races, more sofisticated tracks, and a
workshop where you can customize the racing cars and pilots.
LEGO Bionicle for PC and GBAdvance proves LEGO will to develop, for the
virtual world, many of its proposals for plastic elements, while Stunt Rally
(after the success for PC, launched for GBColor and PS) points towards a new
path, with the construction of the wildest courses, just like movie stunts
use. Then, it's time to hit the gas pedal...

Hope this has any interest,
