Oops! They forgot to mention batteries as an acceptable non-Lego element.
Which... Hm. I suppose you can use the solar panels to get a charge going,
that'd be Lego. Or potentially store up charge in a capacitor. OR even get it
going from turning a 9V motor. Not useful for running an RCX or scout, but it
would technically let you use other Lego motors!
Could you construct a "power your own train" station? Have a hand-held crank
attached to a few 9V motors that generates some voltage, hooked up to a small
1-car engine on a track? Hm. I'll have to try that.
