I was reading the Villanova University[1] Alumni Magazine (Winter 2003
edition) and I came across an article about Dr. Frank Klassner receiving an
NSF award to study LEGO Mindstorms.
Dr. Frank Klassner was awarded a $490,000 grant from the National Science
Foundation (NSF) to direct a threeyear study of LEGO MindStorms' efficacy in
computing curricula across the country. This project represents a
significant extension of the work begun under a $73,000 proof-of-concept
grant awarded by NSF in 2001.
The magazine article isn't online (at least that I can find) but I did find
another blurb on the VU web site:

I have also captured the article as a PDF file:

1 - I graduated from Villanova, hence the reason for reading the magazine!
