Check on www.ups.com; the fee schedule is somewhat complicated (depends on
distance you're shipping and whether you're shipping to a business or home
address--it's cheaper for businesses). It is usually cheaper for heavier items
with more insurance, though. The only problem in my experience is convenience;
I can stop by a post office on my walk to work (and often do), but have to
drive across town to UPS. I can use a second-party shipper to ship UPS, but
the one around the corner from my apartment adds a $3 surcharge--not worth it.
