How about a lugnet.market.reference group?

People could post positive experiences they'd like to share with others,
and because it would be threaded, any allegations could be refuted or
followed up.

But also, it would be in one place.

As far as I'm aware, all posts to lugnet are available to everyone, so
this could build into a nice little 'reference history', where you could
see that someone had been trading, and doing good deals, over a period
of time.

This is *like* auction site feedback, but isn't tainted by being
associated with any commercial aspect of deals done using those places,
and it would also include *any* deals done *anywhere*.

I'm thinking that this may also take the load off some of the long-time
contributors here, because I'm sure they must regularly get mails asking
about this person or that.

Someone *must* have had this idea before; any reason why a
market.reference group doesn't exist?

I know that a 'good trader' site has been proposed, and shot down, as I
recall. I think this might work because of the complete impartiality,
and ability to discuss at length any issues which may arise between all
concerned.

I can see that I have succumbed to the usual stuff one sees when this topic comes up for discussion. I guess the problem either way is that one's reputation is at stake and often it takes little more than one disgruntled or overzealous person to (...)
