  Re: FA(eBay): blue hoppers

(...) curious. Fair question. OK, to be explicit. At this time I am not accepting sales at 30 on a "first come first served" basis, (that is what it would turn into). I am releasing hoppers one or two at a time to the various venues. If and when (...) (25 years ago, 12-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: FA(eBay): blue hoppers

I did assume that it was for the possibility that he could make more than 30. However, he said that if I bid 30, I may well not get outbid, so I was curious. (...) (25 years ago, 12-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: FA(eBay): blue hoppers

(...) Sounds to me like he doesn't mind risking that they only go for 30. But he's willing to wait and see if they go higher, and is probably pretty sure they will. That's not too hard to understand, is it? (25 years ago, 12-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: FA(eBay): blue hoppers

So you don't mind auctioning them off at 30, but you won't sell them for 30? (...) (25 years ago, 12-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: FA(eBay): blue hoppers

(...) No. 30 is the price at which I keep them. There is hysteresis here. The price I pay for one and the price I would sell one for differ. In other words, if anyone has blue hoppers they don't want and want to sell them to me, 30 is the very MOST (...) (25 years ago, 12-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: FA(eBay): blue hoppers

So does that mean that it would be worth it for you to just sell me one or two of them for $30 each (that way you'd get even more than you'd get on ebay--of course I know they are going for more than that..but they are worth 30 dollars to you) (...)   Re: FA(eBay): blue hoppers

(...) Right. I set the starting price where I do because that's the minimum I'll take to walk up buyers. If they go unbid, they go unbid, so the market still has a chance to speak to me (and further, I get punished because I have to pay the listing (...)
