Hi Chris,
I'm probably the worst person to reply to your post, but I think my thoughts
on it may have some merit.
I think it's great you are wanting to host a meeting in San Antonio. I love
to see someone willing to take on such an event. "More power to you!"
What I would suggest is that instead of trying for June or July of this
year, you consider maybe doing the Spring TexLug event for next year.
Having two events a year seems plenty and TexLug already has one scheduled
for October. I think that if you wanted to tackle the one in Spring 2004,
it would be a welcome offer.
Another problem with doing one in June/July is that I think the large
Brickfest event takes place sometime then. Some people from Texas make
plans on going to that event and I doubt if they would be able to make both
during that time frame. I'm speaking for others here, so I may be wrong but
it's something to consider.
The other consideration you might want to think about is to just host a
local event during June/July! I don't know how many AFOLs there are in San
Antonio, but you might get a nice turnout. Instead of using the Texlug
tie-in, just do one for anyone in the San Antonio area (including out of
towners). You might want to make it a one day event and maybe a way to
start a San Antonio group! I always thought that the larger cities should
have their own local organizations as a subgroup to TexLug! Yours could be
the first!
Anyway, that's my two cents worth! I can't give you an idea as to whether I
could make it to your event as I can't seem to make it to the regular Texlug
events! I wish you well in your endeavor though!
Tom

| My feelings on this are mixed; the last time I tried to give my honest opinion on a proposal for a TEXLUG event, the results were not good. That being stated, I agree with Tom (who I have actually met in person, so I know he exists!) {;-) I believe (...)
