Howdy Texas AFOLs!
The first TEXLUG meeting of 2002 will take place on March 9 or March 16 (see
note 1) at Jason Spangler's house in Austin, TX. Please email me (at
tja@texbrick.com) with your response. I will send out more information via
email (including directions) once I've received several responses.
There will be a MOC contest at the meeting. You will be eligible for a prize
if you show up, attend the meeting, and bring a MOC (something of your own
unique creation: house, car, boat, train car, train engine, bridge,
spaceship, church, etc.). (see note 2)
Voting and judging details are still in the works and I'll post details
later. The prizes will be:
1st place: Watto's Junkyard (set 7186 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/7186) MISB
2nd place: Twin-Pod Cloud Car (set 7119 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/7119) MISB
3rd place: (a small set, I haven't picked it out yet)
There is no specific format for the meeting, but you are required to have
fun. You are encouraged to bring a MOC for the train layout, but any MOC is
welcome. Bring all the 9v train track you have and anything else train
related.
If you have sets and parts to sell or trade, bring 'em. (yes Pat, please
bring your 100-lb giant tub of assorted parts ;-) (yes Alan, please bring
your van full of old MISB sets ;-)
Laura Hayden will be coordinating the food and drinks. Later on, she'll be
in contact with the people who are going.
I'll post more details as time progresses, so stay tuned. If you have any
questions, just email me (tja@texbrick.com) or post here in the TEXLUG group.
TJ Avery
Houston, TX
Notes:
1. I've left the date flexible for now. Please indicate in your response
which you prefer, or if you can make both. I'll decide in a week or two
which date is best in order to have the maximum number of attendees.
2. All eligible MOCs must be 100% Lego and must not have appeared in any
previous contests (i.e. contests that have expired by today's date). Joint
entries are welcome, but if you win, you'll have to split the prize. We will
be doing a train layout, but your MOC doesn't have to be designed for it.
CAD entries are welcome, but you must have decent color print outs for all
to see. CAD entries must not have appeared in any previous contests.
I'm ineligible as I'm sponsoring this contest ;-)

| (...) I've heard from a few people so far, but I still haven't heard from most of the bunch that made it to the last meeting. If you're interested in going, please email me. On another note, there's been an interest in bringing 12v trains. I would (...) (23 years ago, 16-Feb-02, to lugnet.org.us.texlug)
