1.  I have been thinking of adding a "Trading Post" to www.nelug.org.

This area would allow for two ways to post 1. If someone allready has a
trading
page I could just link to it.  2.  People could submit their pieces needed • to
me and I would post them on a simple text page that would be updated
periodically.

This sounds like a good idea to me, but I'd suggest doing the page in a list
format and perhaps only making it available to folks who pay a certain amount
in dues (even if it's a very small level).

I guess having it tied to dues is a possibility but I am trying to avoid having
$$$ tied to anything at the moment although $ support is welcome of course.  As
long as costs don't increase and the amount of time to maintain the site
doesn't get to crazy I am happy to do it.

If a member with any amount of time
and ability could, doing it with a CGI script (maybe a modified guestbook?)
would save you the effort of inputting the data by hand (although you might
still need to remove entries after trades are found/parts are no longer
needed).

I like the idea... and I could probably write the CGI to do it (actually I was
talking a little to Nugator.com about it too) but not just at the moment... • I'm
probably pretty busy until October (I'm going almost every night after work to
work on the Lego model for the folks at the Littleton music school, and will • be
until it's done, probably until October) I think we talked a little about this
at the first meeting... are we allowed to put up cgi scripts? What kind of
access do we have to whoever is providing the webspace? Will they let us?

With the account that we currently have we can only use the CGI scripts
provided by PAIR.  If we wanted to upgrade to a webmaster accout (simple to do
just higher monthly fees) then we could do our own CGI scripts.

I guess that my suggestion would be to start this as something I update
manually in a KISS format (Keep It Simple Stupid).  If it got too much for me
to handle then we could talk about the CGI script and upgrading the account.

One thing I can do is set up a form that when submitted sends me an E-mail.  If
I designed it right I should be able to just cut and past from the E-mail to
the page.  I would probably have put limits on the frequency of updates (maybe
2 times a week?).
