Well I had an excellent time at The Construction Site Golden Ticket Event last
night. It was great to finally put some names to faces. I also got to see
some great models and meet some very interesting people. I just hope we can
meet more often, which gets to my next topic.
In talking with many of you last night I definitely got the impression that
there was enough interest in NELUG to get something started. I decided to go
back to pair.com this morning to just read up on things again and I discovered
that they were just wrapping up a "Pre-payment" discount offer that was going
to expire today. I decided that it would be prudent to take advantage of the
discount so I signed up for a full year at 32% off. I also submitted the
request for "nelug.org" and hopefully we should know by the end of the week if
we will get it or not.
I would like to try and set up a meeting with those of you that would like to
participate in the design of the site. At the moment I am basically free in
the evenings for the next couple of weeks (subject to change of course). At
this preliminary meeting I would also like to try and hammer out some Short
Term as well as some Long Term goals for NELUG. If I can get some feedback on
what days work and which ones don't for people then we can try and decide on a
date.
At the moment I will plan on getting up a single temporary page for NELUG I
would also like to start a "Logo Drive" and put all submitted logo's on one
page then we can vote on the Logo for the site. I also plan on keeping this a
free organization to join, however those that want to make "donations" can. I
will keep all my expenses and then people can decide what would be appropriate
for their donation. Of course paying members would have benefits that
non-paying members wouldn't like space for a personal site on NELUG and other
to-be-determined benefits that maybe we can talk about at the meeting.
