On 1-10-2000 NELUG had a fairly spur of the moment meeting because 2
out-of-towners (Kevin L. and Larry P.) were in town and we wanted to get
together. In all there were 17 people at the meeting (Another non-Mindfest
record).
This was a very informal meeting where many of us met at The Construction Site
( http://www.constructiontoys.com/ ) before the meeting and spent much $$$ on
LEGO. We then headed across the street to Bison County BBQ for dinner (Thanks
to Eric J. for setting this up). We did the usual talking about our love for
the Brick and Kevin L. brought us some LEGO store swag as well as his train
speed controler mechanism and his black Metroliner for us to see. I am sure
Kevin will post some pics as well.
As for our next meeting I think there are 2 ideas floating about and we might
be able to do both at the next meeting or we could split them up into 2
meetings (ideas/suggestions appreciated as always).
1. Shaun Sullivan is working on our much awaited first game of Brick Wars. I
will let Shaun give the details but this is basically a role-playing game that
you play with LEGO models.
2. It would be nice if those of us working on projects for the TCS
Castle window display could bring what they have so that we can do a "dry-run"
of the window display and so we can see if we need more models or not. This
would also provide a good opportunity for photos of the setup because it is a
little hard to take photos in the TCS window. Plus I think it would be a
blast. We all had a lot of fun setting up the Star Wars display at the NELUG
meeting at Mindfest and I think this could be as much if not more fun because
we may have a lot more models and options for set up.
If you are working on a model or have an idea for the window display lets hear
about it by posting a reply to the following message:

So if you have an opinion or suggestion for the next meeting lets hear it.

P.S. I would like to try and keep this discussion on LUGNET and not our
Mailing list this time. We do have a couple of new members however that found
NELUG before LUGNET so I will be sending out 1 message to the mailing list
pointing people in the direction of this message and LUGNET in general.

| (...) One quick note: Brick Wars is a tactical combat simulation- aka a tabletop wargame. Role playing games are so very much more than that (he said, with some amount of sarcasm evident in his voice). Sorry to be pedantic, but for someone who (...)
