Lenny gave excellent suggestions on places to visit.
If you have transportation, such as a rental car, you should also visit George
Washingtons home, Mount Vernon, http://www.mountvernon.org, historic
Williamsburg, the colonial capitol of Virginia http://www.history.org and
Jamestown, the first permanent British settlement http://www.historyisfun.org
These sites are a good way to learn about early colonial and US history.
