I'll answer from the perspective of totally platonic relationships since I
haven't had the fortune to date anyone with a LEGO collection.
If I have any new creations that haven't been seen by the person(s) I'm
visiting, I usually bring it along. I'm never concerned about things falling
off my creations since it's not likely that they'll be lost or mingled.
It's also sort of fun trading in person since you often get to root through a
box of unsorted pieces looking for stuff which intrigues you (I really need to
start a box of "gee, I probably don't need this stuff" stuff so I can have
something for others to root through. This of course is what makes the
Jambalaya boxes fun (they really aren't a cost effective way to get parts -
though I have thrown in one or two items people will be quite pleased to find).
