Origin of these printed bricks?

Some time ago I obtained several printed 1x6 bricks; red ones with 'Royal
Mail' printed in white, and 3 different types of blue ones with 'London',
'Manchester' and 'Glasgow', also printed in white (I think I traded them off
Huw or Jon?). They appear to be 1960's vintage - does anyone know which
set(s) they came from? Recently at a toy fair I bought some more blue ones,
very probably from the equivalent set in Europe; 'Basel', 'Hamburg' and
'Genova'.

(...) Bif, I think these are from lego set 113 [a train]. The lugnet pic is poor for your needs: (URL) is better [get yourself a coffee & enjoy]: (URL) A (21 years ago, 26-Mar-03, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.trains)
