Wonder if you can help? I am looking for some Lego enthusiasts who would be
interested in taking part in this years Comic Relief, which is called Sports
Relief. Ideally I'm looking for mad collectors in the UK who would be
willing to build us a life sized remote controlled model, perhaps a David
Beckham look-alike, or the England football team? Any suggestions?

followed by the usual bbc sign off.

I mentioned lugnet and said I'd ask around. I'm more of a virtual Lego fan
rather than a collector but I think this will be of interest to people here.
If you have any useful suggestions why not email her and keep this group
informed.

I had this, and probably several others here have too.  The mail also gives
a direct line number, but I was only going to copy the e-mail address here
like Robin has.  No dates either - I'll dig a bit for that.

I may be dubbed a 'mad collector' (by an outsider, obviously ;-), but I'm no
sports fan or even a life sculptor.  A life-sized figure (not to mention a
whole team) is quite a tall order!  My suggestion would be to contact
Legoland Windsor.  I mean, sure I'd be willing to help out for charriddee,
but I don't think we could get enough bricks together from all the UK crowd
- and who'd do the face?  I wonder if LLW could do the bricks and plans,
then some here could 'help' build it - but it's still asking quite a bit of
them.  These things don't come cheap.

We know that LLW read this occasionally - could someone forward this to the
relevant people perhaps, and see how it goes down?
