I think you answered that question yourself!

The older sets all used light grey.

Metro Station - 4558, 2150
Also some docks/harbours (spelt harbor) - 6541, 6542

Also they sold a harbor/slipway set 5044 which might be the ones you have
found as this contained one each of the flat and sloped pieces.

I just picked up a couple of square platform pieces, one ramped and one level, from a flea market in Portsmouth. This was some of the first Lego I've ever seen at a junk sale. Aside from these there were a few pristine space minifigs (30p, but mixed (...) (24 years ago, 3-Apr-01, to lugnet.loc.uk)
