No sale at the Hayes TRU, yet. Well, 2 Technic sets had tiny
price reductions, probably to bring them in line with other
retailers. One had a whopping 1.50 reduction, the other 40p!

They did have some '99 sets. All of the Slizers, 4 Space Port
sets (6457 at 1.50, 6455 at 20, 6456 at 50, 6454 at 12)
Ninja (6089 at 35, some of the smaller sets at 15 and 20).
Slizers, all 8, 4.99 each, and loads of the disks at 99p.

I bought 2 Slizers. Jungle and fire. To test/evaluate the
ball and socket joints. For a '99 catalogue (I **still**
haven't found one yet!). The catalogue inside was a comic
strip one side, Slizers and Competion the other. The ball
and socket joints are a bit stiff, but have 2 technic holes,
so might have some use in other applications, though
limited. Most of the parts are highly specialized, relating
to the joints. It will be intriguing to see if they can be
used in Technic sets, though I doubt it. Shame the cases
weren't more sturdy, they'd make ideal little carry-cases
for bringing some Lego onto a long plane-journey!

To be perfectly honest, though underwhelming, they aren't
too bad. Sort of a funky-looking version of tiddly-winks.
The coloured-gears might have some benefit, if you want to
highlight portions of gear designs in a different model, or
just make it look different. At five pounds, they are only
moderately more expensive than in the US (IIRC, they are 8
dollars? At a 1.65 rate, that makes these 8.25! Parity!)
The collectability aspect is a bad move (the discs). The
high percentage of specialized pieces does not make it very
feasible to build alternative models with one set, and you
need more if you are to build anything original.

Znap meets Technic. Best description.
