  11 O'Clock Show

On the 11 O'Clock Show last night (a satirical look at the day's news shown on Channel 4 on Tuesdays to Thursdays), there was a pretty sick Lego joke - apologies to anybody who gets offended now, but I'm only the messenger, (although I have to admit (...)   Re: Blue Hopper Car Mania...

(...) Of course, as far as a book that a publisher sells, this is entirely unenforcable to keep you from re-selling the book, at least in the United States thanks to the doctrine of "first sale". The relevant part of title 17 US CODE 109 (a) states: (...) (26 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) Yep, sort of like all those "Promotional Use Only" CDs and LPs floating around in used bins the world over that "legally" remain the property of the record companies and can't be resold. Doug (26 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Blue Hopper Car Mania...

(...) Wow! I've never seen something like that. I guess you need to keep the book in a lock box (you would be in trouble if a thief stole the book since you have allowed it to circulate without the publisher's prior consent). I wonder if this (...) (26 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Blue Hopper Car Mania...

(...) So the used bookstore I bought my copy from (and the person who sold it to the store, I assume) were violating the terms of that "contract" ? Cute. Hardly enforcable, but cute. (26 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Blue Hopper Car Mania...

(...) Intewrestingly, a vast majority of IP protected works do Not allow resale (without prior written consent from the publisher).   Re: LEGO Adverts on Channel 5

Lego definitely seem to be making a big sales push for Christmas this year. I have seen both the Star Wars and Znap ads on TV recently, and today in Kilmarnock there were two big billboard ads in the shopping arcade for the Ultimate Lego Guide. (...) (26 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

  Re: LEGO/DK event at Ottakars

Agree with all the preceding comments - the whole thing was most enjoyable if too short, and a good opportunity to meet fellow builders and collectors. I took a few snaps, but the film will remain in the camera until the NW fest, whereupon I'll (...) (26 years ago, 15-Nov-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)
