The free thing was somewhat hopeful- probably just have ended up in the
local paper.

I know there are cheaper places in Norwich too, and intend to keep using
them- I expect I won't go in TRU unless I hear about sales. (Bonds, part
of John Lewis, is usually cheapest, and it's a nicer atmosphere than
than Argos or TRU; they have a price promise to keep, which is good).

I have fond memories of William and Griffins- it's where I looked at
Lego when I was a child, and it did seem to have a good selection then,
but I haven't been there in years. Norwich Co-Op is surprisingly rubbish
but they do have some older sets, apparently.

There aren't many independent shops here to put out of business,
although it's conceiveble that Langleys (which is quite expensive and
quite close to TRU) might have to change a bit.

  | (...) TRU normally sell trains, but not a large stock. I couldn't imagine TRU giving anything away free! Now TRU is open the smaller toys shops may now close. There are better toyshops in Colchester (which isn't too far from you) - Colchester Co-op (...) (26 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)
