Don't know if anyone else is interested, but here goes anyway.
Toys R Us opened at 9 am in Norwich this morning. I was 5th in a queue
of 14, managed to find the Lego quite quickly, and marvelled at it all-
unless I'm missing something it's the most comprehensive collection in
the city, with most of the '99 catalogue except trains, Model Team and
some smaller 1998 sets. (Is this normal for TRU?) Prices seemed
reasonable too- nothing amazingly cheap but nothing rip-off expensive either.
The bit I'm a bit regretful of is that on my way out I heard a bloke on
a mobile or walkie talkie [1] saying something along the lines of
'There's been one person through the checkout but no-one's bought
anything yet' which made me wonder what would have happened if I'd
bought something- if they'd have discounted it or even *gasp* given it
to me free.
Even if there was a photo op involved it's worth it for a big stack of Lego.
Mind you, I've got a 5571 big ol' truck at home waiting to be built, so
maybe it was the right decision.
mulling over the past,
:: paul
[1] is it just me or does this sound, erm, childish :O)

| (...) TRU normally sell trains, but not a large stock. I couldn't imagine TRU giving anything away free! Now TRU is open the smaller toys shops may now close. There are better toyshops in Colchester (which isn't too far from you) - Colchester Co-op (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)
