1857's, (remember those!), £7.85!!!!!!!! —Richard Dee
Remember 1857, the 950 brick "value" boxes, which cost 13.50? They're back! And on sale! I went to 4 Tescos today, looking for their 99p super bouncing balls. All sold out!! But, on the offchance, found in two of them (Amersham, in Bucks, the other (...) (25 years ago, 7-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

(...) As soon as I read that I rushed off to the nearest Tesco superstore and picked one up, and it's still as great as I remembered... I might pick up another later in the week, the Cardiff one has three left now. Has your Tesco got an (...) (25 years ago, 10-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

I forgot to thank you, Richard. My local Tesco had 6 of the 1857s, so I took 4 of them. (950 pieces for £7.85 is such good value). I also noticed that they had 2 of the new road sign sets at £2.49 each, so I took those too. The blue Technic (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

(...) If you can find a Tesco Extra near you (there seems to only be 6 in the country though) you can pick up a pamphlet type thing at the entrance which gets you a pound off any toy worth over £3, but only one coupon per transaction. Nothing to (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

You really will have to get a better memory for these numbers, or follow the thread. :-) I'll quote part of the originating message for you: "Remember 1857, the 950 brick "value" boxes, which cost 13.50?    Ha ha! OK - I'll concede you win that one. (As you can see, my generosity knows no bounds) <grin>. I use Tescos as my ISP - their mail server is not too bad but their web server is awful. That and the desire to minimize my phone bill by reading (...) (25 years ago, 17-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

I bought another of those value boxes yesterday, but I also wish that it had some other colours. I could do with a load of light and dark grey, but I shouldn't complain at this price. I would also like some transparent and chromed pieces, especially (...) (25 years ago, 17-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)
