I succumbed to the joy of Znap today and bought my first set for the
bargain price of UKP 7.50; that's either -UKP 8 for a motor or a lot for
some black plastic. (It was 3552, the black and green helicopter, if
anyone's interested).

I found it really painful to put together and take apart (I built a CD
rack and it took ages to get right), and my fingers still ache a bit,
which is a problem I've never had with Lego before.

The ridiculous discounts in most shops that seem to be shifting it (and
the huge stocks in those that are still at full price) seem to be
indicating (to me, anyway) that Znap is never going to take off, and
Lego might as well abandon it as a failure now. Maybe it's because it
hurts, maybe people get stuck in their ways, or maybe it's just
rubbish [1].

As the inhabitants of Haddock said, 'Why weren't there huge headlines -
Lego Goes Mad, Decides to Ignore Last 50 Years ?' ->

Is Znap a by-product of CAD/CAM? Do Lego have a quicker turnover of
specialised parts because of it? Do 'parts' like the dinghy and trike
(which I really like, btw) also come out of being able to change moulds
more quickly? Just needed to get those thoughts into the open :O)

(Crossposted to .loc.uk because I feel at home there, and that's where I
bought the set- follow-ups to .general because it seems right.)

[1] That's not really a great argument, is it?
