So I took my own challenge (from the message a few days back) and tried to
build something that turns on carpet but which doesn't have any kind of
tank treads. You can find the results here:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5414
It's only on remote control right now (the Ultimate Accessories Kit was
worth buying for this alone) but it survived the "5yr old nephew" test,
which my previous "rack and pinion steering" model didn't. And it's fast
too.
I've currently got the rear motors on one motor, and the steering on the
second, giving me an output free (currently attached to the lame light
on the front.)
...but it works!
Nick.
