no new Lego in Brisbane until mid-January at the earliest?

I had to phone Myer Queen Street re getting a replacement set (damaged CD in
a Mindstorms set) and was told that their shelves were almost empty of Lego
as it had sold so well before Christmas. The Myer person also said that the
LEGO rep was on holidays until mid January so no new Lego could be ordered
to refill the shelves until the rep returned from holidays.
Of course, you don't want to believe everything that shop assistants tell
you, but my brief foray into the toy sections of several stores this
afternoon seems to confirm that there's not too much left on the Lego
shelves.
K-Mart seems to have the lowest prices at the moment, I recollect a number
of Basic sets and Roboriders at discounted prices. Target's prices all
seemed a bit higher on most items, although both of them were still trying
to flog off a few sets like the 7151 Sith Infiltrator at some ridiculously
high price despite them being sold off dirt cheap elsewhere for months
previously.
In order to comply to Gary Q's exacting requirements, I have bought up all
the 32x32 baseplates in the western suburbs. Or to put it another way, I
visited 7 stores and managed to acquire a grand total of 2 green ones and a
blue one (like I said, the shelves are bare!). There were a lot of the
road-style baseplates but I wasn't after them.
One store I can particular recommend NOT visiting is Toyworld at Jindalee
Homebase. Lousy selection and ridiculously high prices. Does this store ever
have a discount price on anything?!
