Check out the MB Dragons sets at Big W  (give in to your hate, Luke)

What's wrong with me? I mean, I'm still building and all, just not buying.

Sounds perfectly sensible to me.  If you really feel you need to be buying
stuff to be getting the full experience, try building bigger stuff, and
you'll need more blocks, wo you'll buy more sets....

How long have others gone without buying LEGO (short of dropping into a dark
age and now building at all)?

Have others had a mini-dark ages?

I guess that's almost a yes, but for a dark age, you'd have to stop building.

Is this a spurious conversation topic?

No more than most of the drivel I initiate :-)

Have I been sucked into rampant consumerism?

That's probably an occupational hazard for you isn't it?

Do I ask too many questions?

Not normally, but I think we crossed some sort of line at 'Is this a

James (who's off to do something non-lego...)

Eat?  Sleep?  (Scratches head)  What else is there?

Richard
Still baldly going...
