Sunday saw the ninth yes ninth official meeting for the Brisbane & Regional Lego
User Group. With hot weather the day before, many expected it to be another hot
one, but it wasn't thank JC. We had a total of 10 BUGS in attendance. The day
was packed with the usual chats and show of creations & a shopping expedition.
The days theme of a Christmas train carriage & a building, was successful.

BUGS.09 was held at Gary's place and as mentioned & a huge attendance. Present
were Aaron Coghill, Kerry Raymond, Melody Brown, Michael Dallaston, Peter
Parsons, Tara Anderson, Chris Byron, and Kyle ??. And one can not forget the
hosts Gary Quinlan & Calium Quinlan.

As we arrived in dribs and drabs, most action was centred around Gary's
town\train display, and the creation table where we all displayed our efforts.
Kerry had a busy morning creating a "Harry Potter" Christmas dinner (please
don't ask who was there as I haven't read or seen the movie), none the less it
was a great building. Tara had the green dragon from Lego, and a train carriage.
Aaron brought along a small house with loads of Christmas lights over it roof,
and a train carriage depicting Santa and a reindeer on a roof. Chris created a
technic Christmas tree. Who else, ahhh, Ken and Peter both brought along a train
carriage. Gary showed off part of the DACTA range, the solar cell and the
capacitor, also were the specialist light bricks from the UK.

After lunch we all headed down to the local shops for some spending. But
first...

The gang headed over to a Christmas display (one of those home owners that gets
carried away with Christmas decos) to set-up the train, so people of the public
can oooohh and ahhhhh.

Now to the shops. Kmart was the place to be for $89 UCS Tie fighters, and only
one was grabbed as most already have one. The big news from that store was
spotting the Ogel command centre #6776.  Now as we all know the Lego Group
recalled this item after certain events in the USA. Taking it to the checkout we
were told " the Lego Company has recalled this product because there is a fault
and we would not be happy with our purchase. Big W and Toyworld were also
visited with only one making a purchase.

Back to Gary's for some Cake and Coffee, then I said those three word most had
been waiting for; SHOP AT HOME.

Well with notices by Lego that orders must be in by a certain time for the
Christmas deliveries, the S@H site was extremely slow. Ken did a great job
putting a hole in the wallet so did Aaron and Gary, (all buying up on train
stuff). Remaining members helped Kyle's mum pick a Christmas present and
approval was given by Kylie himself (lucky man). With the net slow and ever
changing orders I'm surprised that we got the order in at all. Most popular
item, the Cypress tree pack.

So thanks once again to Gary and his family for allowing us the use of their
home for the meet.

Our next meet? Mid-late February, 2002. Where? Kens Place.
